Why I’m Running: Rusty for Riverton City Council

For nearly three decades, I’ve lived, worked, and raised my family right here in our humble town of Riverton. I had never planned to run for public office; But like many of you, I’ve watched with growing concern as our city, state, and country shift in a direction that doesn’t reflect the values we have always held dear. What used to be a quiet, conservative, tight-knit community is now under pressure from forces that have no interest in preserving what makes Riverton great.
Let me be clear: our town is facing real threats. Just miles away, hundreds of illegal immigrants are being quietly housed in Herriman, overwhelming local resources, burdening schools, and compromising public safety. And unless we the people stand up now, Riverton will be undoubtedly next.
Government overreach is creeping in at every level, federal mandates, state interference, and unelected bureaucrats pushing radical agendas right into our neighborhoods. This isn’t just mismanagement. It’s a deliberate attack to reshape our state, strip away our voices, and turn Utah into something unrecognizable.
That’s why I’m running for Riverton City Council.
I’m not a career politician. I’m a conservative, a small business owner, and a former financial advisor who understands what it takes to run things efficiently, and how to push back when our governmental systems go too far.
After years working with financial institutions like Citi Group, JPMorgan Chase, and Mountain America Credit Union, I know how to manage budgets, make tough financial decisions, and protect what matters most. Those same skills are exactly what Riverton needs right now. We don’t need more spending, more committees, or more agencies influencing our lives. We need common sense, fiscal responsibility, total local control, and a city governing body that is completely transparent with it’s citizens.
As the founder of Feast Mode Flavors & Nutrition, I’ve built strong relationships across our state and understand how state and county-level agencies operate. I know how to hold them accountable and keep them in check. That experience will be vital as we navigate the challenges Riverton faces ahead.
And make no mistake—I won’t back down from a fight. I’m not afraid to ruffle feathers if it means doing what’s best for Riverton. I believe in freedom, law and order, and putting our citizens first without question.
This campaign isn’t about politics. It’s about protecting our community from becoming the next casualty of this California-style, leftwing decline that’s infected too many towns across America. We’ve seen what happens when we ignore the warning signs and I’m not going to let that happen to our city.
Let’s rinse Utah of this radical California agenda, starting right here at home. Don’t California my Riverton.
